The Eliot Lounge & Boston Marathon: A Historic Connection

Once known as the "Boston Marathon’s unofficial clubhouse," The Eliot Lounge was a legendary gathering spot for runners, sportswriters, and locals alike. From the 1970s through the ‘90s, it became a post-race institution—a place where marathoners celebrated their achievements, swapped stories, and toasted to the spirit of Boston’s most iconic race.

While the Eliot Lounge closed its doors in 1996, the tradition of welcoming runners lives on at The Eliot Hotel. This year, in celebration of the Boston Marathon, we’ve partnered with UNI to create a special carb-loading Japanese menu available throughout Marathon Week. Expect comforting, high-energy dishes like handmade noodles, flavorful dumplings, and pillowy bao buns—perfect for pre-race preparation or post-run recovery.

Whether you’re running the 26.2 miles or cheering from the sidelines, join us in honoring Boston’s marathon legacy—where history, hospitality, and a love for the sport come together.
